Over the course of a four-decade career, Laurel has forged new paths, designed transformative places, and pushed boundaries of all kinds. Laurel’s work has left an enduring mark in many communities of the West. She has fundamentally shifted perceptions about what landscape architecture can - and should - be in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. Her focus has broadened from landscape as art, to landscape as science, to landscape as healer. Her dexterity across the art, science and humanity of the craft, her energetic advocacy for new ways to respect and enhance our environment, and her enduring passion for community-centric design that contributes a sense of safe place are defining elements of her practice.
