Lions Learning Center coming to Riverfront Park

Buzz is building around the Lions Learning Center, a key new upgrade coming to Riverfront Park in 2027

The Lions Learning Center, a dynamic new outdoor learning environment designed by Dig Studio, is one of the key new amenities planned for Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane, Washington. The project is being funded by the Spokane Central Lions Club and will transform an existing covered shelter remaining from Expo '74 into an educational environment for schools and community groups. Located on the west side of Riverfront Park, known as the jewel of Spokane, the current structure will be updated with a new roof, improved seating and tables, as well as electrical outlets for educational-related technology. With an emphasis on nature-based learning, the Lions Learning Center is envisioned as a destination for learning about Spokane history and the environment. The total project cost is estimated at $300,000 and has already received $200,000 in donations, the remaining fundraising is ongoing with in-kind labor and material donations being accepted, as well as a digital fundraising site, which can be found HERE.

The upcoming upgrades to Riverfront Park have been covered by a variety of local sources, read the Spokane Journal of Business article HERE and watch the coverage by CBS local news affiliate KREM2 HERE.

The vision of the Spokane Lions Club is to have this important educational center become a generational gift to the Spokane community. A welcoming place for people and groups to gather to enjoy Riverfront Park, and to use the Lions Learning Center as a safe, fun, and comfortable venue for teaching and learning. This project continues the Spokane Central Lions Club's 104 years of service and dedication to the people of Spokane. That future generations will use this beautiful location and facility to grow and learn.”
