Children’s Hospital Therapy Dog Park
What would a park for therapy dogs look like?
Nationally accredited canine research and innovation centers provided ideas for innovative play and enrichment features
After three years of hosting medical dogs as part of the staff at Children’s hospital, the hospital set out to provide a Canine Respite Park to play and let off steam. The client wanted the dog park to be visually appealing while also being a space for the dogs to take time off from duty.
Dig performed outreach and research with Hill’s Pet Food Research Group and Royal Canine Global Innovation Centers, and after extensive site analysis, the team responded with a design that includes interactive, engaging terrain elements for various challenge levels, room to run, and opportunities for human handlers and observers to relax and enjoy watching the dogs play. A specially designed underground water system cleans away waste, keeping the area clean and odor free.
