Paco Sanchez Park Named by The Know as One of Top Ten Playgrounds in Denver
From The Know:
This is one playground that many parents have expressed love for. “It’s a cool park with a lot of Denver history,” she said. “Paco Sanchez was a very popular DJ and the park has a 1950s radio theme.”
Francisco “Paco” Sanchez became the first Latino radio announcer in Denver and purchased his own radio station in 1954, KFSC-AM. This playground in Sun Valley pays homage to him with a huge play structure shaped like a vintage microphone that kids can climb in and slide out of; record “stations” around the park with facts about Sanchez and Denver in the 1950s; and a concrete slide shaped like a gramophone.
It’s a large, busy space with lots of things to explore, a bathroom nearby, basketball court, skate park and plenty of other kids to play with.”
