Bees, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators are essential contributors to a healthy ecosystem. Dig Studio and The City of Denver put on a BioBlitz event at Heron Pond as a way to engage the public to connect to their environment while simultaneously generating useful data for science. It was also a great opportunity to show the community how the Heron Pond/Carpio-Sanguinette Park design has evolved. Children and adults from throughout the neighborhood (and beyond) recorded as many plant and pollinator species as they could using the iNaturalist smartphone app. Click on this link to watch a video that showcases interviews with some of these very important citizen-scientists and the species they discovered on site: Bioblitz video
